Artist's Biography
I was born and brought up in Birmingham and took my Art Foundation course there, at Bournville School of Art. I then studied Fine Art at Bath College of Higher Education, graduating with a BA honours.
I moved to Scotland in '92 and since then have worked in various media, including printmaking and textiles. Over the last 4 years I have been working in mixed media, exhibiting in solo and mixed shows throughout the UK but mostly in Scotland. I have undertaken various private commissions and one for the Archdiocese of Edinburgh and St Andrews to produce a Lourdes Pilgrimage banner.
I have always been inspired by the textures, colours and shapes found in nature, and over the years this has led me to the semi-abstract work I now produce. Although most of my paintings begin from a sketch, I find working in mixed media is an exciting process that often leads to unexpected results which can take the paintings in a new direction.
Most of my work is framed in a ½" limewashed slip and 3" limewashed wooden frame. Those pieces that are not framed are painted on box frame canvases that are ready to hang. I am always happy to email images of my work in their frames. |
